ART IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER AND SOME BEHOLDERS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN OTHERS

The nutty left wants to tear down statues that offend them. They even want to tear down the Emancipation Statue of Abraham Lincoln, who had the courage to free the slaves. This statue was commissioned by freed slaves that paid for it themselves. It obviously didn't offend them. Remember the controversy over the alleged "art" that was called "Piss Christ"? It was a photograph of a small plastic crucifix submerged in a tank of the "artist's" urine. The elephant at the Sedgwick County Zoo creates better art (and that refers to its excrement much less its paintings). “Piss Christ” won an award in a competition that was sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, a United States government agency. It is hard to understate the amount of outrage that it caused. The answer: suck it up. It is artistic expression and there is freedom of speech the opposition was told. In the case of statues, they were real works of art. It actually takes artistic talent to create one. However, it offends liberals and obviously governmental agencies (Democratic Mayors) don’t want to offend the snowflakes. They had the police stand by and allow the foaming-at-the-mouth nuts tear them down. We have to watch while protestors set the American Flag on fire in protest, but they don't have to observe an actual work of art that offends them.
