In order to understand the perspective of the author of this blog, I should explain a little about my background.  My name is Clark V. Owens II.  I am retired from serving 22 years as a District Judge for the State of Kansas.  Prior to that, I was the elected District Attorney for Sedgwick County Kansas for 8 years.  The remaining 8 years of my professional career was involved in the private practice of law.

I graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Economics.  I then attended and graduated from the Washburn University School of Law.  In private practice, I handled a wide variety of legal matters.  Both as District Judge and District Attorney, my focus was on criminal law.  In addition to those elected positions, I also ran unsuccessfully for the Kansas Senate during my first year of law school.

My interest in politics came naturally since my father was an elected official serving as a county judge and then later a District Judge for the State of Kansas.  I was one of those nerdy kids, formerly called "square" in my generation, that preferred to keep informed on current events.  I actually read the Wichita Eagle newspaper at the breakfast table before going to my junior high classes.  Even at that age, I was able to recognize that the news stories frequently took a slant that reflected the author's opinion of the issue rather than appearing on the editorial page.  That is one thing that doesn't seem to change with time.

During my years serving as District Judge, it was important and at one time mandated, that my personal opinions on issues were not to be publicly discussed.  Thanks goodness that is over, and my constitutional rights have been reinstated. As the saying goes, I am mad as hell and can't take it any longer.  Those that identify as liberals, while outnumbered by conservatives in this country have been successful in advancing their agenda by wearing their politics on their sleeves, being loud and forceful, and positioning themselves in sensitive positions for indoctrination such as educators, journalists and well-placed appellate court judges. There is a need for conservatives to be more aggressive in sharing their views. While few may read this blog, it gives me an outlet to vent my frustrations with the destructive direction of our country.
